Vitality

_Urban Micro Space

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, Wuhan City has been closed for three months. Residents can only stay at home for long periods oftime, cannot go out to feel the fresh air, nor can they engage in relaxing outdoor activities. Many residents experience anxiety and irritability during the lockdown. After the "unblocking" in Wuhan, going out has becomethe appeal of residents. After three months of staying at home, people urgently need to feel the fresh air of nature and take some outdoor activities torelax. Hope that by designing a series of art installations and activity spaces to provide residents with some relaxing, entertaining and leisure activity venues, which clear the gloomy emotions brought about by the epidemic and rejuvenate people's lives.

Inspiration

One of my inspiration points was a "red curtain incident" during the epidemic in Wuhan. At the period of epidemic isolation, a Wuhan resident filmed the curtains of his neighbor's house on the balcony for two months. He not only recorded the dancing appearance of the curtains, but also matched different background music according to different weather conditions. After the video was uploaded, it became popular all over the Internet. People thought it funny at first, but then they had a vague worry about whether the family was safe before they could close the window. And the messy red curtains have been fluttering in the wind and rain for more than two months. I feel that in such a sudden picture that breaks the normal life, the language seems to contain a sense of loneliness and desolation. Just like the people trapped in the city and the people trapped outside the city, because of the curtain, the heart is connected together. Red is a symbol of vitality, I also hope that through such a set of curtain devices to reflect the vitality of Wuhan people in the face of the epidemic.

Incorporating surrealist art

Inspired by Rene Margaret’s painting that change the normal size of objects in real life and creates some strange scenes, which bring a strong sense of visual impact to the audience. Because of the color tone of the red curtain, I extracted the element of rose in the painting《Le Tombeau des lutteurs》(the Tom of the wrestlers), and used daily necessities such as gramophone, sofa and chandelier to make the concept map of "everyday objects will scream", then forming a series of elements used in environmental design.
